Car insurance is a contract between the insured and the insurance company, providing financial protection in the event of an accident. Depending on the type of coverage, car insurance may include compensation for damages caused to third parties (third-party liability), repairs to your own vehicle, coverage of medical expenses, and roadside assistance services.
According to the Motor Vehicles (Third-Party Liability Insurance) Law, car insurance is mandatory in Cyprus for third-party coverage. Every vehicle driven on public roads must have at least third-party liability insurance. This mandatory insurance protects against financial damages caused to others in case of an accident. Failure to have insurance may result in fines, penalties, and other legal consequences.
The cost of insurance depends on several factors:
Personal factors such as the driver’s age, years of driving experience, and accident history.
Vehicle-related factors such as the make and model, age of the car, engine capacity, and horsepower.
If you want to find out your own cost, request a quote today.
Basic insurance (third-party coverage) only covers damages you may cause to other vehicles, individuals, or property. Comprehensive insurance provides broader protection, covering both third-party damages and damage to your own vehicle, even if caused by weather conditions or theft (if selected).
Required documents:
For the vehicle, you need to have a valid Registration Certificate and a Roadworthiness Certificate (MOT), and send us the vehicle registration/ownership document.
For the driver, you need to send us a copy of the Driving License and any available Driving History.
Having these documents available helps us prepare your quote more quickly!
In the event of an accident, follow these steps:
- Remain calm and ensure you are safe.
- Call roadside assistance at 8001 2424; they will arrive promptly to handle the accident.
In cases of significant damage or injury, contact the Police immediately at 112.
